Annotations and explanations for strips that may need them, for instance if they have "inside" jokes (rare) or confusing artwork (often) |

0001 - "In The Beginning"
This was only supposed to be a "mock-up" to pitch to the Lincoln University newspaper team, but ended up being ok, so I used it. Though it is only the fourth thing I have ever drawn in that style (the third being old Eugene Manx strip 1 and the other two being a crap superhero spoof called Zina). That explains why Aaron looks like a zombie, and Tina looks barely human XD. I'm also crap at drawing lips, so I simply don’t give the males any at all, like in (most) Commando comics XD. This strip and the ones following are a "re-telling" of the first few Felney strips, so are set in 2001. Mike has a Zeroscape t-shirt despite the fact they probably hadn't formed back then, oops XD 0003 – "Out Of The City" The scanner was being "uncooperative" to say the least. It had already decided to un-install itself. Then decided to add loads of grain to the image. This one was going to be in colour but i got pissed off and added cross hatching and marker pen and made it black and white instead. 0008 - "Subject Change" As these early strips are set in 2001, this takes place before Ann becomes Tina's girlfriend. Of course by the time Ann is introduced in the old Felney she has become Tina's girlfriend, and that's how Mike knows what she looks like, so can have mucky thoughts XD 0010 - "Unjust" A reference back to classic Felney, where Aaron was taken to an institution where rich parents can send their gay children to have them "corrected", as your child turning out to be "one of them" wouldn't reflect well on your reputation would it? Of course I was an anarchist back then and was totally convinced such places existed. I'm not an anarchist any more but that doesn't mean I have to trust the government! 0011 - "And Don't Forget The Joker" Not a great one artistically... blame doing it really late at night and finishing the inking/"tidying up" after I had just woke up XD. I realised what I could have done to correct the Mercedes pretty soon after I finished inking. And the final frame is supposed to show Aaron has been doing a donut on his parent's lawn, churning it up. I think I put too much of the song in, but if I only put in the first two lines like I had wanted it might not have been so obvious what song it is. 0013 - "The Agency" This one was drawn in February 2007, but not uploaded till well over a month later. Little buses like that are actually seen around Cambridge, they used to be DAF Convoys (like in the strip, but taller), but are now 90's Ford Transits (but taller again). God knows what they are actually for, they never seem to have any passengers 0015 - "Now With Blood & Gore!" The first three frames are based on three particularly infamous scenes of violence from some of my favourite splatter movies... try and name them all! 0016 - "Notice" And so another Felney hiatus ends. At nearly 4 years that's rather a long one! My comic making has been almost totally re-organised in the mean time, and I mainly do Boys' Own adventure stories that I sell on paper! So I'll restart Felney… in order to eventually produce some books of it that I can sell on paper. Also like my other comics I'm now using computer-generated speech bubbles and typed text. |
